Conan is getting all the media attention, so it's a good thing Dark Horse is bringing back Solomon Kane, Robert E. Howard's Puritan gunslinger, behind the creative team of Scott Allie and Mario Guevara. Naturally, the fact that a motion picture is due for release soon helps things a bit. This is the direct sequel to last year's miniseries, Castle of the Devil. A Minutemen scan.
Taking place after the events in Solomon Kane: The Castle of the Devil -- but written to stand on its own -- this new series delves deep into the horrors scattered throughout Germany's Black Forest. When Kane comes across gypsies being terrorized by roving bandits, he's not sure what's worse -- the bandits who wish to rob and rape innocent travelers or the evils that spew forth from the forest, intent on killing every man and woman around! With creature designs by Eisner Award-winning artist Guy Davis, this series uses Robert E. Howard's "Death's Black Riders" fragment and the "Rattle of Bones" short story as springboards to launch into a suspenseful and terrifying new excursion with Howard's troubled Puritan hero.

Apparently DC is trying to wring as much comic book sales out of its Blackest Night event as possible, coming up with single-issue revivals of titles that have already ceased publication. As to whether or not such tie-ins are of any consequence, that's for the reader to find out for him/herself. This particular tie-in however manages to come up with nice epilogues to Shade and Hope O'Dare. And yes, veterans writer James Robinson artist Bill Sienkiewicz can still deliver. A Minutemen scan.
